As the only international art fair in Sydney and the only one of its kind in the Asia Pacific region SAPF offers a
distinctive occasion to buy and market art on paper.
Sydney Art on Paper Fair (SAPF) exhibits and sells the widest range and highest quality of art works on paper for 5
days once every 2 years - including photography, drawing, painting, limited editions prints, vintage posters, artist
books and other three dimensional works.
The 10thAnniversary Sydney Art on Paper Fair took place in July 2005. As part of the anniversary celebrations
Sydney was treated to a feast of paper with the Paper Trail showing 10 fantastic exhibitions at various galleries
around the city in the lead up to the Fair. Symposia, talks, demonstrations, special exhibitions and a focus on artist
books were all a popular feature of this year’s Fair.

A diverse audience of art directors, curators – from national and international museums – and art lovers
attended to look, listen, purchase and talk about all manner of issues concerning the art world, collecting, showing
and making art on paper. About 6000 people attended the Fair (with another 10,000 attending the Paper Trail
exhibitons) and over $850,000 in sales were recorded. Feedback from exhibitors and attendees was excellent rating
the quality and variety of work as very high.
The Emerging Artist Stand ‘Fresh’ was sponsored by the Sydney Art on Paper Fair showing six artists selected from
around 100 entrants from Australian tertiary art schools and a price donated by the Print Council was awarded to
Deborah Bain-King a post graduate student from Monash University Melbourne. The peoples choice for the best
stand went to the Independents Stand.
