Hazelhurst Art Award 200
Art on Pape
17 November to 9 December

Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre is a spectacular new arts complex offering exhibitions, art courses and workshops, artists talks and special art events. Set amid extensive landscaped gardens, Hazelhurst is a major creative resource for Southern Sydney and a significant new venue for the enjoyment of art by all the community.

Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre is delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural Hazelhurst Art Award, a brand new exciting arts competition to be held in Southern Sydney.

In the past this award was known as the Sutherland Shire Biennial Art Exhibition until the completion of Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre at Gymea in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire in February 2000.

Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre invites all artists to submit works on/or principally with paper in the inaugural 2001 Hazelhurst Art Award.

The prize aims to promote excellence and innovation in the field of Art on Paper. Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre sponsors the major prize of $10,000 with a Friends of Hazelhurst local artist prize of $2000 and a People’s Choice Award of $1000.

The award is open to original works on/or with paper – 2D or 3D. Acceptable disciplines in the category of Art on Paper include drawing, painting, collage, original prints, computer generated, photography, paper sculpture and installation. There will be no size restrictions for this year.

The closing date for applications is 15 October 2001, to be followed by an exhibition of successful applicants at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery from the 17 November to 9 December 2001.
